Who is the Survivor Today?

Survivor Today Magazine understands the identity crisis the survivor faces. Often the survivor strongly relates to the abuse and the feelings associated with the abuse.  We recognize that these feelings are so strong that the survivor believes the feelings and identity are one in the same.

For example:

  • I am guilty – the abuse was my fault
  • I am ashamed
  • I am dirty
  • I am alone
  • I am scared
  • I am powerless
  • I am a victim
  • I am sad
  • I am hurt

But circumstances and feelings don’t make us who we are and they can’t change who we are. If a car is in an accident we know that the accident doesn’t change the fact that the car is still a car. It may be a car with dents but it is still a car. Well the abuse doesn’t make the survivor less than who God created him to be. The survivor is who he is. Yes the abuse causes a tremendous amount of stress and pain that can last a long time, but the abuse itself doesn’t have the power to change who we are.

Survivor Today Magazine stands on the Word of God which is where we learn who we are in Christ:

The articles published in Survivor Today Magazine will always encourage the survivor to walk in truth about who she or he really is.
