Dr. Burrowes Nixon would like to spread the word about Child Sexual Abuse in the Caribbean.
In order to get people listening to the extensive problem of child sexual abuse in the Cayman Islands and the Caribbean, we have to talk about it.
She needs our help to get her voice – which represents all victims – heard!
Dr. Burrowes Nixon has been selected to present her research on child sexual abuse at the Caribbean Public Health Agency’s (CARPHA) annual conference in Grenada in June, but she cannot afford to go. Every funder she asked says its “not in their budget” or “I wish there was something I could do.”
She needs our support. She explains, ” If you can spare a little or a lot, every bit helps. I pray you feel the same way about this issue as I do, and urge you to think about how you can play a part in helping to raise our collective voice against Child Sexual Abuse”.
Her doctoral dissertation was entitled: “Experiences of Mental Health Professionals Counseling Young Survivors of Sexual Abuse in the Cayman Islands”
This is the second she has gotten accepted to present this vital information, and I hope this time finances won’t stop her from sharing it.
