In this world there are things that are seen and things that are not seen and as Survivors we need to know the difference because healing is about addressing our invisible pain. Pain that comes from those things that no one else can see but you; things that only you know first-hand really do exist. I’m referring to the negatives voices in your head that seem to berate you, and remind you of your weaknesses and challenge the point of your very existence. I’m talking about your insecurities that no one can see yet they completely stop you time and time again from living the life you’ve always wanted to live. And then there are the nightmares, memories and flashbacks that appear to flash across your mind as if they were a part of a horror movie playing in a mall theatre; but the reality is there is no one else there with you to witness the terror. And finally then there is the anger, fear, anxiety, guilt, low self-esteem and shame that you know intimately for you interact with them daily – they are your imaginary friends or better yet enemies. These are the unseen things that are rooted in your heart and soul that when they are manifested look like addiction, suicide, eating disorders, unsafe sex, and gynecological problems. As a Survivor Today, if we truly want to be healed, we must peal off each of these foreign layers of pain until we are free.
As we both know, there is no joy in being haunted by negativity but ironically it is not easy to let go of either. But we must do the work – we have to let go in order to grab hold of what we really need to heal. Your heart and soul are a great part of who you are. You are more than the person you see in the mirror. Your soul is your mind, your emotions and your will. To some degree, all Survivors have experienced or are experiencing right now true soul pain. You are hurt. Plain and simple. There is no other way to put it. You are hurt and rightfully so. It is natural, expected and part of being human to feel pain when you’ve been hurt – and child sexual abuse is hurt. Take a moment to read through a list of things that bring you sadness and heartache. You may have never experienced some of the items below or you may be experiencing the majority of them right now. But take heed. There is good news. There is somewhere to turn to when your soul hurts like hell.
Aggressively remind yourself that there is hope as you read this list. Remind yourself that we have a Father in Heaven who we do not need to prove our pain is real to or that it really exists because He knows our heart. And keep in mind there’s a reason why our problems and hell are too great for any human to solve. When we can’t depend or trust others to heal us we are forced to turn to Jesus. Remember that He has the remedy, the cure and antidote to the poison – and no one else. Our respite can’t be found in a prescription, a bottle, a pipe, a partner or piece of pie. Relief, or a Savior, can only be found through an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. Saving souls is what Jesus Christ specializes in. So don’t hesitate in opening up your heart and letting Him in. He wants a relationship with you. He wants to hear from you! As you see below – He has the answer to all the issues in your soul – but you must give each pain to Him first. And in exchange for your sorrow – He will give you everlasting life, peace, joy, love, kindness, compassion and eternal life.

To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory.
